18. Rainbow
by ~TheSylverCatThank God for the little things. The world seemed so busy lately, and Tonia's mind was spinning. With the work at the community service picking up, she was stressed out. Her hair was frizzy, her face was unmade, and her clothes were wrinkled. As she pulled into the drive way of her suburban household, she hung up her black coat.
Putting her head in her hands, she ripped open her briefcase. She started to scribble with a ball piont pen. Her shuffling of papers drowned out all of the other sounds outside. She still couldn't focus. Tonia grabbed the papers again and rushed up the stairs to her desk. Why did people have to file everything? It was such an asinine task.
The alarm rang which meant she must have been late for something. Damn. She realized the board meeting was tonight. A groan escaped her lips as her head fell to the desk. Thought there was no way in hell she was going, she had to make dinner. At least Eamon would be home soon.
Tonia struggled to keep from falling asleep on the kitchen counter. As she was cleaning up her random culinary messes, she heard the garage door open. Grateful for the help she would soon be receiving, she sat down at the kitchen table.
Eamon came in the front door with a large smile on his face.
"What are you so happy about?" Tonia snorted.
"I'll show you," He grinned, loosening his tie. He took her hand, and lead her to the couch next to the window. "Look outside,"
She looked out the window, and was surprised to see a beautiful rainbow, painted in the sky. She had been so busy lately, she didn't even notice.
As he draped her arm around her shoulder, she kissed his cheek. "Thank God for rainbows." She muttered, leaning her head on his shoulder.
The two sat back, enjoying the little things in life.
