11. Memory   Flames. The floor is burning, the walls are burning. All I see are photos, memories, life, curling into black crisps and dissolving by my feet. I should get out of here.

 No firefighters will come to rescue me. They are probably outside, with everyone else, shrieking with joy, torches in hand. I clutch the old black book to my chest and make my way towards the back door. I cannot go out front. I do not check for my parents. With bitter happiness, I realize they are dead. They are safe from the jeering neighbors hell-bent on death.

31. Flowers   Why was it that women all loved flowers? It was one of the things he just couldn't understand. Every time there was a holiday, birthday, or anniversary, they always wanted flowers. How could anyone like them? They looked nice for a few days, and then they withered away, slowly dying in a disturbing gasp of color and smell. They were inconstant. Why would women love things that reminded him of death?
